Ghana has announced that visa applications will now be processed within just five days, a sharp contrast to the previous weeks-long wait. The update comes as part of the government’s ongoing plan to position the country as a more open and competitive destination for global visitors, business leaders, and investors.
Foreign Minister Okudzeto Ablakwa made the announcement, noting that the policy takes effect immediately. Applicants will now receive either an approval or rejection within five working days after submitting all required documents.
The move is aimed at boosting tourism and encouraging foreign direct investment, especially in a climate where ease of travel can make or break economic opportunity. Ghana’s reputation as a gateway to West Africa has grown steadily in recent years, especially since the “Year of Return” campaign attracted international attention and sparked a renewed interest in diasporic connections.
This latest reform reinforces Ghana’s ambition to lead the region not only in democracy and culture but also in practical innovation around international engagement.
