Born in the UK to Nigerian parents, Bright's journey into public service began early. At 22, she was elected as the youngest Labour councillor in Barking and Dagenham. Professionally, Bright is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA). She started her career in investment banking before transitioning to the technology sector, where she served as a senior strategy and operations manager for a major tech company in the UK.

Beyond her professional and political achievements, Bright is deeply committed to community service. She serves as a school governor, supporting young people's education and development. Her contributions have been recognized with accolades such as the Universal Peace Federation’s Young Achiever Award and the Young Politician of the Year award at the Nigerian High Commission.

Bright's dedication to public service is mirrored in her family. Her father, Pastor Gbolahan Bright, is an educator and spiritual leader who has been awarded an MBE for his contributions to education. Her mother, Councillor Afolasade Bright, currently serves as the Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills, and Aspiration in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and has previously held the position of mayor in the London Borough of Hackney.

Princess Opeyemi Bright's ascent to the mayoralty not only underscores her personal achievements but also reflects the growing influence and representation of the Nigerian diaspora in UK politics.
